What is ECAN?

PwC's Enterprise Control automates the operation and testing of controls and offers executives insight into their business processes and systems activities by analysing transactional and master data, user access security, and system configurations, helping address critical areas that may add risk and cost to a business. In addition to intelligent analytics tailored to business needs and industry, Enterprise Control Analytics includes workflow, reporting, visualisation, and issues and document management. ECAN helps to manage risk and compliance costs and does this by using a library of tools, which is able to give data reports to people directly.

ECAN uses data importing by connecting the local ERP and then generating an extraction script which, in short, links to the clients profile and outputs the relevant data. The product's creation is driven by the need for analytics in the financial and security industry and is filled with a large library of analytical tools which are not generic so as to be more focused and specific to these industries’ needs.

What is BeingIT®’s involvement?

ECAN is being developed by a global team of experts and BeingIT® is responsible for developing, not only the front end user interface, but also the core of the system. The product is accessible in the cloud as well as on-prem, world-wide and is an extremely powerful tool to automate the operation and testing of controls. Enterprise Control helps PwC's clients manage risk and compliance costs.

How is ECAN put together?

The system can be run in the cloud or on-prem, and has been created using the best C# .NET practices with some of the latest long term support technology available. ECAN can be hosted in Kubernetes, Virtual Machines Servers or Bare Metal Windows Server® Operating Systems. ECAN under the hood, in short, is an Analytics Platform that is able to manage and execute a large range of analytics, of which Python is one of its preferred go to languages for developing end user created analytics. The front end uses Angular as the UI Framework and also includes advanced modern and bespoke JavaScript for fast, efficient client side rendering. The system has been built with a focus on efficiency and scalability, rather than aesthetic appeal and proves durable and hard working all the same while having a welcoming user experience and interface.
